THE DETAILS
The challenge
M0 is a platform enabling builders to launch their own application-specific stablecoins, each backed by M0's universal stablecoin platform. Fintech and crypto builders get the credibility of institutional-grade backing without needing to build the stablecoin infrastructure from scratch.
M0’s platform is designed to serve many stablecoin use cases, each with their own unique preferences. To scale this model, they needed interoperability infrastructure that could:
- Expand quickly to new chains as partners came onboard with specific chain deployment needs
- Support customizable security architectures to meet different customer’s compliance requirements
- Allow permissionless access in cases where customers wanted to own their deployment and control their upgrade paths
What we did
M0's relationship with Hyperlane started permissionlessly. The USDhl stablecoin was first deployed on HyperEVM using Hyperlane's open framework without any involvement from the Hyperlane team, demonstrating the protocol's accessibility and thorough documentation.
Following that deployment, M0 and Hyperlane core team established a closer working relationship. For subsequent partner launches, Hyperlane's core team delivers Managed Deployments, handling white-glove Hyperlane deployments on new partner chains while M0 deploys their stablecoin infrastructure on top. This division of labor lets M0 move fast—typically under two weeks from kickoff to mainnet—without sacrificing control over their core protocol.
Each stablecoin is deployed to the customer’s chain as an extension of M0’s core stablecoin $M, which lives on Ethereum mainnet. This enables convertibility across M0-powered stablecoins and other commonly used stablecoins in the market. These M0-powered stablecoins run over Hyperlane messaging rails, enabling native issuance on the customer’s chain and rapid interchain transfers.
Additionally, the Hyperlane architecture supports Interchain Security Modules (ISMs), positioning M0 to adopt custom interchain security configurations as different customer compliance needs come up.
Outcome
As of February 2026, M0 has launched six custom stablecoins using Hyperlane, with $470m+ in interchain transfer volume.
This includes USDN from Noble, mUSD from MetaMask/Linea, USDhl from Felix, ctUSD from Citrea, USDSC from Startale/Soneium, and mantraUSD from Mantra.
