Builder Journeys: LogX Expands Trading Interchain

Builder Journeys: LogX Expands Trading Interchain

Paul Timofeev

Summary

LogX recently launched their V2 upgrade to deliver seamless trading across chains — powered by a permissionless deployment of Hyperlane.

LogX, a decentralized perpetuals exchange, recently launched their V2 upgrade to deliver seamless trading across chains — powered by a permissionless and self-managed deployment of Hyperlane.

Here’s how LogX leveraged Hyperlane to meet their interoperability needs:

What is LogX?

LogX is a decentralized perpetuals exchange offering a variety of assets, from memecoin perps to leveraged prediction markets and exotic perps. Currently live on Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, Mode, Mantle, Scroll, Sei, Kroma, Taiko, and BoB, LogX V2 was designed to aggregate liquidity across multiple chains for a seamless trading experience.

The Problem: Fragmented Liquidity

The core challenge DEXs like LogX face today is liquidity fragmentation. In the ever-expanding multi-chain world, assets and liquidity are dispersed across different ecosystems.

To add to the complexity, different chains follow different rules and standards. Whether its token standards, consensus protocols, or data structures — this differentiation makes it inherently challenging to transfer data and assets across different chains. Connecting them is hard.

This creates an unfavorable onchain experience for traders, who are often forced to deal with greater slippage when executing trades, limited access to trading pairs, and bridging complexities. For DeFi to reach its fullest potential, there needed to be a way to unify this liquidity in one platform.

LogX needed the right tooling to be able to facilitate seamless token transfers across chains, but did not want to become dependent on any single interoperability protocol. This is where Hyperlane came in. With its open source code, self-serve CLI, and extensive documentation, anyone can deploy Hyperlane to any chain and start building powerful interchain applications today.

LogX 🤝 Hyperlane

“When we found Hyperlane, it was a game-changer for us.” — LogX Team

As an open interoperability framework, Hyperlane provided everything LogX needed to create a custom set up for communicating across chains, without forcing them to compromise on decentralization and ownership. There are several key features here:

  • Permissionless Interoperability — Anyone can deploy and operate Hyperlane and connect to 70+ Hyperlane-integrated mainnet chains today. No need to wait for governance approvals, BD politics, or signing any exclusivity contracts. Just ship it out-of-the-box.
  • Seamless Token Bridging with Warp Routes — Hyperlane Warp Routes are token bridges that can be configured to support permissionless transfers of native, ERC20, or synthetic tokens.
  • Modular Security — With Hyperlane ISMs, developers can customize their interchain security models to their specific preferences. Anyone can also run their own relayer for delivering interchain messages between chains, so you can avoid any external dependencies.

Integrating Hyperlane

LogX integrated Hyperlane with subtle customizations tailored to their specific needs:

  • Deploying Custom Hyperlane Contracts — LogX deployed their own set of Hyperlane core contracts on every chain they are currently live on. Thanks to Hyperlane’s customizability, LogX was able to make a key adjustment, enabling warp route deposits to go directly into users’ account-abstracted wallets to support a cohesive interchain trading experience.
  • Warp Routes for Collateral Bridging — When using perps exchanges, traders must first deposit collateral tokens to back any positions they open. Doing this with multiple assets for multiple chains is simply a UX disaster. LogX configured their own collateral-backed ERC20 Warp Routes for bridging USDC and USDT across chains. With these Warp Routes, traders can easily transfer their collateral assets to whichever chain they wish to be on.
  • Custom Validator Set and Relayer — Hyperlane utilizes off-chain agents called validators to attest to message validity, and relayers to deliver messages across chains. To power their traders’ token transfers on the backend, LogX assembled their own validator set and is running their own relayer.

Looking Ahead

Builder journeys like LogX’s are a perfect testimony to what an open interoperability framework like Hyperlane enables. LogX discovered Hyperlane on their own and was able to configure an interoperability solution that’s customized to their specific needs today, without any external dependencies or permissions.

With over $620m in derivatives trading volume already processed, LogX V2 is currently live and thriving, with expansion to Solana and TON on the horizon. Connected by Hyperlane.

More about Hyperlane

Hyperlane is the open interoperability framework. It empowers developers to connect anywhere onchain and build applications that can easily and securely communicate between multiple blockchains. Importantly, Hyperlane is fully open-source and always permissionless to build with.
